What Does the Test Consist of?

The ECS HS&E Test consists of 50 questions covering 11 topics:

Topic 1: General Health and Safety at Work

  • Foundational aspects of workplace safety
  • 6 Questions

Topic 2: Manual Handling Operations

  • Key principles of safe manual handling
  • 4 Questions

Topic 3: Reporting Accidents

  • Proper accident and incident reporting procedures

  • Correct use and responsibilities surrounding PPE
  • 4 Questions

Topic 5: Health and Hygiene

  • Basic occupational health principles
  • 3 Questions

Topic 6: Fire and Emergency inc Fire Safety in Buildings

  • Awareness of emergency and fire safety procedures

Topic 7: Working at Height

  • Safety measures for working above ground level
  • 5 Questions

Topic 8: Work Equipment

  • How to safely work with tools and machinery

What Can I Take With Me?

The test is ‘closed book’ which means that anyone taking test is not allowed to refer to any notes, books or other reference material.

It is the test takers responsibility to check and comply with the rules and requirements of the examination centre before taking the test.

How Long Does the Test Take?

The test has a 30 minute time limit to complete all 50 questions.

Our question database and tests provide randomised practice exams to be taken, either as a full 50 question test or as a 5 question quick quiz.
